EP – 141 Postpartum is Forever

Our conversation with Jane Honikman

Jane Honikman joins us to discuss this important and sometimes misunderstood topic of postpartum and postpartum depression. We start our conversation by getting to know Jane and her background, and how she was affected by her first birth. As we continue to learn about Jane, we learn how she came to work and study in the area of postpartum.

We continued our discussion of postpartum and learned about the organizations she helped to start and promote for the benefit of everyone involved with the birth of a child. There is certainly a lot of information that fathers and grandfathers can learn about to be better prepared to support our daughters, daughters-in-law, and wives. The effects and influences of postpartum mental health challenges do not always fade with time, but with the proper support, the challenges can be addressed and managed.

Please share this important conversation with three friends or family members that could benefit from hearing Jane talk about postpartum. The links to Jane’s website and several organizations we mentioned are listed below. Jane’s book, Postpartum is Forever: Social Support from Conception to Grandparenthood.
