EP – 152 Fall Storytelling for Grandchildren

With Autumn starting to turn the leaves colorful and leaving a bit of an evening chill in the air, our thoughts begin to turn towards festivals and the end of the year.

Debra Weller, a master storyteller, joins us again to discuss the great traditions of end-of-the-year storytelling. Debra discusses the rich traditions that just about all cultures have for gathering in the harvest, preparing for the winter, and the celebrations of successful hunts. Stories around campfires, kitchen tables, and large mead halls entertain us, scare us, and can also teach us.

As a professional storyteller, Debra shares her experiences using stories to build connections with grandchildren, whether young or old. She talks to us about setting the stage and setting for stories and how we can use and develop gifts for storytelling. A great tip Debra discusses is that retelling classic stories with our personalities and twists can be a fun and easy way to share stories with our grandchildren and other family members.

Be sure to check out the link below to Debra’s first visit with us for even more helpful tips and insightful lessons about the power of storytelling. Once you have listened to this podcast episode, please remember to share it with three friends who would enjoy listening to Debra’s storytelling wisdom and advice.
